A RIBA chartered architect, Darren joined shedkm in 2013 and has experience across a range of sectors including housing. With specialist interests in offsite manufacturing and sustainability, Darren has a passion for creative, rational and intelligent design.
Darren is leading the development of shedkm’s innovative and multiple award-winning Town House factory-built, customisable homes for Urban Splash, now being rolled out across the country. The House family of modular, pre-fabricated housing products is expanding and applying experience gleaned from developing Town House; Darren is overseeing the first delivery of Mansion House apartments and a prototype Row House starter home, as well as continuing to improve the Town House product, develop new products and plan new sites.
Speaking on day two of Explore Offsite Housing, Darren will be exploring the importance of placemaking to delivering successful places and sustainable communities when using standardised offsite solutions. The presentation will examine a range of case studies from shedkm’s offsite portfolio, encompassing a range of scales, contexts and offsite techniques. Also considering how sustainability challenges can be addressed using offsite manufacture.
